This is a course based on the national NCEA curriculum designed to give students a taste of all aspects of agriculture, horticulture and viticulture. Although the study for each year level feeds into the next it is possible to join the subject at any point of a student’s career.
Junior students are involved in practical activities on the school farm managing the animals and growing produce for sale, or to supply the Food Technology department. Senior students follow an academic Achievement Standard based course. This can lead to tertiary study, direct entry into the agricultural employment sector or agritourism.
